Social Media

slack

Yes: there are two. Use them to communicate with the ACE Leadership asynchronously across time, and space. We also have this magic channel that reposts whatever you say on our twitter account, which is bigly exciting.

Twitter

Using Zapier, each Slack has a channel that auto-posts to Twitter, provided the content plus url is 140 characters. Use it to post (or retweet) interesting Agile Coaching related articles, or engage in conversation with tweeps about topics (hopefully not #noestimates). Improvise announcements or reminders, occasionally playing off what other’s post.

Facebook

Using Zapier, tweets from @agilecoachingex are automatically reposted every 5 minutes (there is a delay – check twitter first, don’t post twice) to our Facebook page. If you have access, feel free to comment, create new posts, or upload pictures.

Buffer

Buffer is used to schedule posts to social media accounts. The account is owned by @agilecoachingex’s twitter account. Once a meeting schedule is finalized, I like to:

schedule an announcement tweet

  • “tomorrow” after it is scheduled at 8am ET/5am PT
  • e.g.: #ACESoCal Mar 21st 6:30pm @ZachBonaker “No One Does Scrum by the Book!”, A Visual Technique to Assist Transformation http://buff.ly/2nuWX3E
  • e.g.: #theACEATL Wed Apr 19th 6:30pm “Speed Dating, You can’t handle the Agile Forecasting Truth!” http://buff.ly/2nHMOjq #agilecoaching #atlanta
  • 140 characters or less – 141+ characters and John get’s an email :/
  • begins with hash tag for chapter (e.g. #theACEATL, #ACEMidTN, #ACESoCal)
  • includes date and time (no location)
  • includes the @twitter-username of presenter (if exists, else their real name)
  • includes title of talk
  • links to the SHORT LINK of the MeetUp event itself (e.g. http://meetu.ps/2YX6Fn – to find it go the event detail page on meetup, click share to twitter, copy the url it generates and paste that at the end of the tweet)
  • fill it up with some hashtags if you have room: agile, agilecoaching, city you are in

schedule reminder tweets

  • I use morning of day before, and 1-2 a week between date scheduled and event date
  • e.g.: #ACESoCal REMINDER Mar 21st 6:30pm @ZachBonaker “No One Does Scrum by the Book!”, A Visual Transformation Technique http://buff.ly/2nHSb2r
  • 140 characters or less —  141+ characters and John get’s an email :/
  • begins with hash tag for chapter (e.g. #theACEATL, #ACEMidTN, #ACESoCal)
  • includes Reminder (or REMINDER)
  • includes date and time (no location)
  • includes the @twitter-username of presenter (if exists, else their real name)
  • includes title of talk
  • links to the SHORT LINK of the MeetUp event itself (e.g. http://meetu.ps/2YX6Fn – to find it go the event detail page on meetup, click share to twitter, copy the url it generates and paste that at the end of the tweet)
  • fill it up with some hashtags if you have room: agile, agilecoaching, city you are in

The tweets that buffer posts are automagically reposted to Facebook using Zapier.
